Happy tales & tails from Richardson rescue.

Hello all,

I wanted to send you guys a quick update.  My girlfriend and I drove up all the way from Atlanta after I saw pictures of Brandy on your site.  If you remember, she was already claimed and by the grace of God, she was returned.  You guys called me and I paid for her right then- without even meeting her.  It turns out, that was probably one of the best decisions I ever made.  Chesnee, as she is now called, has grown into the most beautiful dog and she makes me laugh every single day.  She has truly brightened up our lives.  I wish I would have grabbed one of her siblings too.  I read one of the other testimonials on your site and she is definitely a sibling of the Lewis pair - so that makes her part RedBone Coonhound, Doberman Pinscher, and Weimaraner.  It's funny, I was searching for a bloodhound rescue - i wanted a lazy dog - but couldn't be happier with Chesnee [she is most definitely not lazy].  I would have guessed she was Dobe, Bloodhound, Weimy or Vizsla, and maybe a little boxer because is always leading with her paws.  In any case, she is definitely the best part of every one of those breeds.  Smart as a whip, affectionate, and athletic.  You can NOT take her tennis ball away from her.  We now have to spell "W A L K" or she'll  go crazy.  "Car ride" - same way.   Anyway, thanks so much for all you do to help doggies.

 Hi Janet,

I don't know if you remember me, but last July my friend (Kathy) and I drove from Orlando to come and adopt either Dixie Chick or Daisy Mae from a litter of Chinese Crested/Cocker Spaniel puppies.  I ended up with Dixie Chick who has now been named Chloe and is doing wonderfully!  I couldn't be happier.

The reason I'm writing is that I know that you are always looking for donations and wanted you to know that I'm working towards earning money for your organization.

At Disney we have a VoluntEAR program where they keep track of our volunteer hours.  Once we have a certain amount of hours, we can apply once a year (in January) for a grant for the organization of our choice (AS LONG AS THEY ARE A 501(c)3 ORGANIZATION). In January 2009, I will be applying for a grant for the Richardson Rescue Organization.

Kathy and I were very impressed with all that you do with your organization and how you keep it all going with so little help.

Coming there was such a wonderful experience.  I remember you wouldn't tell me which puppy was Dixie Chick or Daisey Mae.  You told me to go into the pen and you said "your puppy will choose you".  And you were right!!!!All the puppies grabbed my shoe laces and untied my shoes within seconds!  I then bent down to pet them all and they were all nibbling at my fingers - EXCEPT ONE!  She was licking me!  That is the one that I selected and it was Dixie Chick. She is a sweet sweet dog and I love her dearly!

Thank you so much for such a great experience! Best regards,

Hi Janet and Everybody,

We are so happy with Thomas and MayLee (now Max and Maya).  They are really full of energy and fun to be around.  We had no idea Max would like to swim in our pool but we do now.  The first day here he took a flying leap into the pool and paddled to the steps, got out, shook off and wanted to do it again.  We encouraged him to wait  until the weather was a bit warmer and we put a life jacket on him.  Maya just decided to watch from her lounge chair.

We are in the process of potty training now-haven't had too many "accidents".

Thank you again for these two little sweeties.  You are doing such good work.  We will be making donations to you and have told friends about your good work.

Thank you again!!!!!!!

Dear Janet, Brian, and all my "pups" at the Ranch:

I know you told my Mom and Dad to wait a couple of weeks, but we thought we'd write you now because things are going so great.

When we left last Saturday I got to sit right between Mom and Dad when we drove to the pet store to get my new crate.  The man at the store said he'd always had rescue dogs like me and you guys before, and he told me even if I'd had a pretty rough morning, by the time I got used to everyone and my new home, I'd realize what a lucky dog I was.

I love my new home.  It has three floors and two sets of stairs that I have a blast running up and down, and Mom and Dad take me for a long walk every morning and every night.  I have so many new places to see and smell, but we kind of take the same route each time, so I'm getting pretty familiar with the neighborhood.  When we go walking in the morning, the sun is coming up, and when we go walking after Mom or Dad comes home from work, there sure are a lot of cars -- a lot more than we used to see coming down the road past the cow pasture.  But Mom says I am a really good boy because I don't pull on my leash -- I stay right by her side (especially when the cars zoom by).  She laughs because she says I have found (and peed on) about every bush there is in the neighborhood, but I guess she just didn't know what we guys do.

When Mom is home, she's usually cooking in the kitchen, so I visit her and try to see what she's got up there on the counter.  She's not giving me any samples, though.  She says it's "people food."  When she's not cooking, she's in the living room, on the couch, studying with all her books.  I get to lie right next to her, because she's got a great big doggie bed for me to lay on.  And she says I'm really a good boy because I just roll over on my back and wait for her to scratch my belly -- she's good at that.

I haven't quite figured out how to get around those two cats, though.  The big one, Fur Ball, wants to play, but he's kind of scary.  I'll have to watch him a little bit more before I do.  The other cat just looks at me and doesn't say much.  Fur Ball and I both like going out on the deck on the second floor.  You can see all the way to South Carolina from there.  He watches the birds down below in Mom's flower garden, and I can see them and all the other people walking their dogs and driving by.  Dad likes to barbeque on his grill -- he's not giving me any samples, either, but it sure smells good.

Mom and Dad both say I'm the best dog because I haven't had any accidents in the house.  The only thing I don't like so much is my crate, but Mom says I'm safer during the day if they're gone.  Maybe she's trying to save me from the cats -- I don't know.

I can't wait for this weekend, because Mom says another dog is coming to visit -- her son's Golden Retriever, Honey.  Finally, another dog to play with -- can't wait!  I'll let you know how that goes.  (I hear she loves to run around and chase the cats, so it ought to be fun!)

Bye for now.  I miss you all, but I'll 'rite again real soon.

Dear Richardson Rescue,

On January 24, 2007 I have adopted a 10-week old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy Hank from you as a birthday gift for my husband Gerry. Despite his small size (at the time) we were all very well aware that Hank would grow up to be a big dog (his paws were huge even then).

I am happy to report that Hank is doing very well and he is, indeed, formidable in size - pushing 85 pounds at the age of 1 year and 1 month. Judging by his appearance he has some Irish Setter in him as well - he grew up to look like an Irish Setter wearing Bernese Mountain Dog colors. He is a bit on a silly side, but is a wonderful happy pup who loves to play and LOVES to run. You should see him go - he could outrun a thoroughbred horse.

Best regards and thank you so much for Hank,

Maria Kuroshchepova (1/8/2008 )

  Cubix
This is Cubix, formerly Polo. He is growing fast and is well loved by his teenage owner. He barely made it 4 days on the web pages when my daughter talked her dad into allowing her to adopt him. He is 100% spoiled. He is now 5 months old and already weighs 50 pounds! We would like to hear from his brother's, Goatee and Cream's, families.

Janet,
Sorry its been so long for me to contact you, our family is loving every minutes of these hounds. After doing some research we have concluded that the Lewis Pair were the following breeds, RedBone Coonhound, Doberman Pinscher, and Weimaraner. My brother and I adopted the pair in March of last year, since then both are now reaching 80lbs each. They're huge, I love them.
Well enough talking from me here are all the pics we have taken since.  Hope you enjoy as much as we are

Thank you

Thumper

I wanted to send you a recent picture of Thumper.  We adopted him about mid-January and he has enriched our lives past belief.  Everyone who sees him falls in love with him.  He is happy and healthy.  Thanks so much for your wonderful work.
